Babysitters ยท Cape Town
Find a babysitter in Cape Town
For a night out, a weekend or the school holidays. KhayaKin helps you find a babysitter who lives close enough to make it easy.
What a babysitter does
A babysitter looks after your children for a few hours at a time: supper, bath, stories and bedtime, or a morning while you work. It is usually occasional rather than a fixed job, which is why trust and a short trip home matter so much.
What to look for
- Experience with your children's ages, especially if you have a baby.
- First aid.
- How they get home. After a late evening, agree in advance whether they drive, are fetched, or need you to arrange a lift.
- Comfort with your routine: bath and bedtime, pets, and what to do if a child will not settle.
- Availability at short notice, if that is what you need.
On KhayaKin, babysitters say when they can work, whether they can come at short notice and how they travel home.
Before you go out
Leave your number, a second contact, the address and any allergies or medicine where the sitter can see them. Our free emergency and routine sheet is made for this.
Employing legally
When you hire a babysitter regularly to work in your home, you are an employer in the eyes of the law. That means a written contract, at least the national minimum wage, a payslip, UIF if they work more than 24 hours a month, and registration with the Compensation Fund. Our employer checklist walks through each step, and the employment contract template is free to use.
How KhayaKin helps
- Every carer's South African ID, or passport and work permit, is reviewed by our team before their profile is listed.
- Profiles show experience, previous jobs, languages, rates and what each person is comfortable with, and many include a short intro video.
- You can search by distance from your home, which matters in the Southern Peninsula.
- You message and arrange an interview in the app, and phone numbers are only shared once the carer accepts.
We still recommend that you interview carefully, phone references yourself and do a paid trial before you commit. Our interview questions and reference check sheet can help.
Areas
We are focused on Cape Town's Southern Peninsula, including Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, Noordhoek, Kommetjie and Simon's Town, and welcome families and carers from the rest of Cape Town and the Western Cape.
